Clean Up Australia

Clean Up Australia

Comment on The Advertiser article on Page 22 - Monday March 2013. Headline - Muslims lead the way in Clean Up.

Yes, I know we all did our bit on Clean Up Australia Day . . . well at least we thought about it on the day, and maybe even volunteered to get out and about in our suburb and "do our bit."

Or maybe we just thought it would be a good idea and perhaps "we'll really do it next year?" After all we're all quite busy these days, we've volunteered before and done our bit.

but there is a wake-up call in The Advertiser newspaper today (March 4) which hit the mark for me. Perhaps it will make you think about it too: Headline reads "Muslims lead the way in Clean Up."

It tells how the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association branches in South Australia, Victoria and Queensland formed the top three groups with the most volunteers to do "their bit" on the big Clean Up day. It included more than 170 members of the association in Adelaide.

"This is our religious, social and moral duty - that'swhy we, as a community, have taken part in the event," the association's SA president, Manzoor Khan, told The Advertiser.

Incidentally Mr. Khan has been taking part in the Clean Up event for the past 10 years.

The story points out that the Ahmadiyya community in Victoria provided the largest group of volunteers yesterday with 272 people cleaning up. In Queensland the community provided 173 volunteers.

Total overall numbers of all people volunteering in Australia could be higher than last year's estimated 591,400 volunteers.

That did it for me.

I'm definitely doing it next year. I feel I need to give something back to this wonderful country and it's amazing mix of wonderful people who are willing and able and above all very active and are taking part in the Australian community and it's needs.

Getting started "again" this time Unstoppable

Unstoppable
I’ve come to realise and now believe just how powerful our thoughts can impact our day to day lives.
Inspiration takes individuals to amazing levels of achievement. We can lift ourselves  from a mediocre life to high levels of achievement personally, socially and professionally.
It seems that if we really believe that it is possible to achieve then it can be done and it will happen. Obviously it requires dedication and courage, never the less the day will arrive when the achievement becomes reality.
I’ve been reading a book titled “Unstoppable”. It’s the incredible story of the power of faith in action.
It’s the journal of Nick Vujicic. He was born without arms or legs.
He says in his book: “What you cannot see, but might have sensed already is that my lack of limbs has not kept me from enjoying great adventures, a fulfilling and meaningful career, and loving relationships.”
He is adamant that his lack of limbs has not kept him from an incredible life.
And he lives life just that way. Amazing.
This man is a wonderful example of the attitude many more of us could adopt.
It certainly changed my thinking. And I recommend the book.

Welcome

Welcome to the Menzies Media Newsletter.

Welcome to my new website and this the first Menzies Media Newsletter.

My aim is to update this newsletter at least once a week to make comment on a range of topics from my work at Menzies Media, the media in general, politics and "events". There will also from time to time some comment on the work that I have been undertaking.

It is my desire to keep this information up to date.

My background is in journalism so I'm told it should be simple for me to find topics . . . but I'm not quite sure about that at this stage.

I don't think I will find the task to be as simple as it sounds.

However, writing on this newsletter is definitely a goal that I have aimed to achieve for a long time.
